GroceryFilipino.com Commemorates Juneteenth

On Saturday, June 19th we commemorate “Juneteenth”, a historic day marking the effective end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, two years and a half years after President Lincoln delivered his monumental Emancipation Proclamation, the Union Army arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform enslaved African Americans that the Civil War had ended, and that they were finally free. Juneteenth is the oldest African American holiday, and we celebrate its significance each year, as it truly changed the course of our nation’s history, ending slavery and bringing freedom to all.

GroceryFilipino.com recognize the importance of freedom and commemorates Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery.
